EVANS Maud

Born c1892 in Tunstall, Staffordshire (11C).

1911 Pottery hand, 30 Wood Road, Kingswood (19) (11C).

EVANS Richard

1791 17 Oct. He was described as a Bristol potter when his son, John Evans II was apprenticed to John and Elizabeth Hope (A, Ao).
1798 A potter living on the south side of Pile Street (Q).

 

EVANS Robert I

The son of Thomas Evans of Bristol, button maker (A), the father of Robert Evans II (RPR) and the father-in-law of James Bradshaw (F).

1714 25 Nov. He was apprenticed to Thomas and Sarah Dickson (A, Ao, Ar).
1722 13 Oct. He became a free gallypotmaker as he was the son of a freeman (F, G).
1731 15 Mar. Mary, the daughter of Robert Evans, potter, baptised (RPR).

It has been stated that the baptism register showed Robert Evans as ‘belonging to the pot-house at St Anne’s’ (Ray 1968, 46).  However, no trace of this wording could be found in the register.

1734 Gallypotmaker, St Mary Redcliffe parish (P).
1739 Gallypotmaker, St Mary Redcliffe parish (P).
1744 11 Oct. A potter of St Mary Redcliffe parish, he was bondsman to a licence granted to John Prym, victualler (M).
1745 A pot-painter of Bristol, he was bondsman for John Adams of Bedminster, Shipwright (Adm.).
1754 Potter, St Mary Redcliffe parish (P).
1774 31 Oct. He was dead when his son, Robert Evans II, became a free potter (F, G).
1781 15 Feb. James Bradshaw, potter, obtained his freedom because of his marriage to Hester, daughter of Robert Evans, deceased (F, G.).

1840 8 Mar. St Nicholas, baptism of his daughter Sophia. Wife Elizabeth (JaPR).

EVANS William I

1715 30 Aug. He became a free potter because of his marriage to Mary Child, widow (F, G).

EVANS William II

1715 22 Dec. A potter of Castle Precincts, he was granted a licence to marry Mary Brittain, a widow, of the same parish, at St Philip and Jacob (M).
1720 8 Feb. Either William Evans I or II was bondsman for Mary Child, widow (Adm.).

EYRES William Endicott

Born c1836 (PPR).

1868 1 Jun. Trinity Street, St Philip’s parish (32), the son of Phineas Eyres, shoemaker, he married Elizabeth Ellen Sellick (32) of Regent Street, the daughter of John Sellick, cabinet maker (PPR).

FARR Henry

The son of Thomas Farr of Chetton [possibly Church Stretton], Shropshire (A).

1724 16 Apr. He was apprenticed to Thomas I and Elizabeth Frank.  Friends to find apparel (A, Ao, Ar).
1732 19 Jan. Henry Farr of Bristol, late of Lambeth, Surrey, potter, aged 22, bound himself to serve for four years in Jamaica through agent Peter Simpson of London (Kaminski, J. & M. 1966. ‘A list of immigrants from England to America 1718-1759’ – information from Marek Lewcun).

FARRINGTON Samuel

Born c1880 in Burslem, Staffordshire (11C).

1901 Possibly the Samuel Farrington, a potter’s dipper, aged 17 and born in Stoke-on-Trent, who was a prisoner in HM Prison Stafford (01C).
1911 Presser, pottery manufacture, 5 Dunkirk Road, Fishponds (31), living with his wife Lottie (28), born in Bristol (11C).

Born c1886 in St Philip’s parish, the son of William G. Fear and the brother of George F. Fear (01C).
