1901 Pottery worker, 27 Essex Street, Bedminster (27), living with his wife Alice (25) and children Florence (1) and Ellen (2 wks), all born in Bristol (01C).

 

WILSON [christian name not known]

1855 19 May. He was described as working at the pottery run by Mrs Pountney, when his son, Robert, aged 10 years, was charged with stealing some lead from the pottery. PC Parrott, the constable who had the child in charge, said he had learnt that he was much neglected and ill-used by his father, who earned good wages, but squandered it in drink, and who, also, at times beat his boy very severely.  The magistrates sent an officer for the father, whom they sharply admonished, and who denied any ill usage, and promised to take proper care of his son. The case was dismissed (Bristol Mercury).
