POOLE Edward

Born c1823 in Wellington, Somerset (61C).

1861 Lodging at 2 Fisher’s Court, Guinea Street, St Mary Redcliffe parish (38) (61C).

POOLE George

1727 27 Jul.  He became a free potter because of his marriage to Elizabeth, the daughter of Humphry Toby, a tobacco roller (F, G).
1737 4 May. He was dead when his son, Richard, was apprenticed to Joseph Light, rope maker (A, Ar).

POOL(E) John William

Born c1825 in St Mary Redcliffe parish (71C).

1838 29 Jan. He was apprenticed to J.D. Pountney, aged 14 years (Ao).
1851 Potter and turner, 15 Brick Yard, St Mary Redcliffe parish (26), living with his parents Joseph, a house painter, and Harriet, a staymaker (51C).
1853 6 Feb. King William Street, the son of Joseph Poole, a painter, he married Elizabeth Hutton of King William Street, the daughter of Henry Hutton, a labourer (PPR).
1861 9 Union Place, Temple Street, Temple parish (37), living with his wife Elizabeth (30) born in Bristol (61C).

1871 Possibly the Thomas Poole, gate keeper, widower, 1 Redcliffe Mead Lane, St Mary Redcliffe parish (66), born in Seavington, Somerset, living with his daughter Eliza (37), born in Bedminster (71C).
1871 2 Dec. ‘Died November 25, Mr Thomas Poole, for 18 years in the employ of Messrs Powell and Sons, Temple Gate Pottery, aged 66’ (Bristol Mercury).

PORTER Frederick

1884 16 Dec. Inquest into the death of Frederick Porter, aged 16 years, of Rowley Place, Chatterton Square, St Mary Redcliffe parish, a potter’s assistant at Messrs Price’s Pottery, Victoria Street. He had tried to enter and use a lift that had been intended only for the use of carrying clay. He was crushed between the lift and the floor of a room. Verdict: accidental death (Bristol Mercury).

1836 10 Oct, He was apprenticed to J.D. Pountney, aged 14 (Ao).
1846 Hope Square, the son of James Porter, a shoemaker, he married Sarah Bristow of Hope Square, the daughter of George Bristow, a plasterer (JBPR).
1851 2 Hilliers Court, St Mary Redcliffe parish, living with his brother William’s family and his own daughter Sara (4), born in Bristol (51C).
1851 9 Jun. St Philip’s parish, a widower, the son of James Porter, a cordwainer, he married Elizabeth Faircloth of St Philip’s parish, the daughter of Henry Faircloth, a labourer (PPR).
1856 15 Dec. Taylor’s Court, Pile Street, St Mary Redcliffe parish (36), a widower, the son of James Porter, a shoemaker, he married Mary Ann Tomlin (36), a widow, of Taylor’s Court, the daughter of John Phippen, a labourer (RPR).

Born c1836 in Bristol, the daughter of William Porter and the niece of Henry Porter (51C).

1851 Working at pottery, 2 Hilliers Court, St Mary Redcliffe parish (15), living with her parents William, a potter, and Jane Porter, her siblings and her uncle Henry Porter, a potter (51C).
