EVANS George

1732 13 Dec. A potter of Brislington, he was bondsman to a licence granted to George Drake, collar maker (M).
1757 19 Feb. He was described as a potter of Bristol, when his son, Joseph, was apprenticed to William Reeve, rope maker (A).

EVANS George Rock

Born c1812, the son of John Evans II (A).

1826 11 Dec. He was apprenticed to Charles and Elizabeth Price, aged 14 (A, Ao).

EVANS John I

The son of Lot Evans of Bristol, shipwright, deceased (A).

1756 4 Aug. He was apprenticed to Joseph Tayor I.  Friends to find apparel and washing (A, Ao).
1768-71 Possibly the John Evans who stood surety of £5 each for Ann Powell, James Roades, John Fry, Thomas Lewis and Joseph Bettington to keep alehouses in Temple parish (AKL).
1774 4 Oct. He became a free potter (F, G).

EVANS John II

The son of Richard Evans of Bristol, potter, and the father of George Rock Evans.

1791 17 Oct. He was apprenticed to John and Elizabeth Hope (A, Ao).
1802/3 Elizabeth, the wife of John Evans of Great Gardens, potter, received £1 from Ann Whitson’s Charity for Poor Women in Child Bed (JW).
1804 18 Jul. He became a free potter (F).
1812 Potter, Barton Hill, St Philip and Jacob out parish (P).
1813 Catherine, wife of John Evans of St Philip and Jacob parish, potter, received £1 from John Whitson’s Charity for Poor Women in Child Bed (JW).
1814-22 Potter, Unity Street, St Philip’s parish (PPR).
1826 11 Dec. Noted as a potter when his son George Rock Evans was apprenticed to Charles and Elizabeth Price (A).
1830 3 Aug. Noted as a potter when his daughter Catherine married Joseph Powell, cabinetmaker (Burgess Book No. 20, p.207, G.E. Weare Collection, Original Oath, p.33).

1856 2 Mar. Broad Mead, St James’s parish, baptism of his daughter Elizabeth Mary.  Wife Elizabeth (JaPR).
1861 Greengrocer, 11 Bond Street, St James’s parish (29), living with his wife Elizabeth (34), born in South Molton, Devon, and daughter Elizabeth (61C).

EVANS Richard

1791 17 Oct. He was described as a Bristol potter when his son, John Evans II was apprenticed to John and Elizabeth Hope (A, Ao).
1798 A potter living on the south side of Pile Street (Q).

 

EVANS Robert I

The son of Thomas Evans of Bristol, button maker (A), the father of Robert Evans II (RPR) and the father-in-law of James Bradshaw (F).

1714 25 Nov. He was apprenticed to Thomas and Sarah Dickson (A, Ao, Ar).
1722 13 Oct. He became a free gallypotmaker as he was the son of a freeman (F, G).
1731 15 Mar. Mary, the daughter of Robert Evans, potter, baptised (RPR).

It has been stated that the baptism register showed Robert Evans as ‘belonging to the pot-house at St Anne’s’ (Ray 1968, 46).  However, no trace of this wording could be found in the register.

1744 11 Oct. A potter of St Mary Redcliffe parish, he was bondsman to a licence granted to John Prym, victualler (M).
1745 A pot-painter of Bristol, he was bondsman for John Adams of Bedminster, Shipwright (Adm.).
1754 Potter, St Mary Redcliffe parish (P).
1774 31 Oct. He was dead when his son, Robert Evans II, became a free potter (F, G).
1781 15 Feb. James Bradshaw, potter, obtained his freedom because of his marriage to Hester, daughter of Robert Evans, deceased (F, G.).

1715 30 Aug. He became a free potter because of his marriage to Mary Child, widow (F, G).

EVANS William II

1715 22 Dec. A potter of Castle Precincts, he was granted a licence to marry Mary Brittain, a widow, of the same parish, at St Philip and Jacob (M).
1720 8 Feb. Either William Evans I or II was bondsman for Mary Child, widow (Adm.).

EYRES William Endicott

1868 1 Jun. Trinity Street, St Philip’s parish (32), the son of Phineas Eyres, shoemaker, he married Elizabeth Ellen Sellick (32) of Regent Street, the daughter of John Sellick, cabinet maker (PPR).
