HODGSON John II

Born in 1829 in St James’s parish, the son of John Hodgson I and brother of George, Joseph and William Hodgson (JaPR, 41C, 51C, 61C).

1829 2 Aug. Baptised the son of John I and Ann Hodgson (JaPR).
1844 12 Mar. He was apprenticed to J.D. Pountney, aged 15 years, to learn the art of plate maker (Ao).
1850 4 Dec. Thomas Street, St Thomas parish, the son of John Hodgson I, potter, he married Mary Hale of Thomas Street, the daughter of Thomas Hale, a smith (ThPR).
1852-62 Temple parish (TPR).
1861 Whiteware potter, 10 Poole Court (Castle of Comfort), Temple parish (32), living with his wife Mary (29) born in Blakeney, Gloucestershire and children (61C).
1864 30 Jul.  John Hodgson the younger, potter, son of John Hodgson potter a free burgess.  Father’s copy dated 12 June 1826.  Cert. of marriage 27 November 1825.  Baptism 2 August 1829 produced and birth proved (FM).
1871 Journeyman potter, 30 St Stephen’s Crescent, Bedminster (44), living with his wife Mary (41) and children (71C).
1876 13 Nov. Noted as a potter when his daughter Louisa (23) of St Philip’s parish married Thomas Blackmore (PPR).
1881 9 Garibaldi Buildings, Bedminster (54), living with his wife Mary (50) and children Thomas (25) and Mary Ann (21) (81C).
1891 Potter, ‘Pontry [Pountney] & Co’, 17 School Road, Bedminster (62), living with his wife Mary (54) and daughter Mary Ann (25) (91C).
