1855 | 6 Jan. ‘Henry Curtis was charged with stealing a piece of iron from the Pottery, Temple Backs. The prisoner who worked on the premises, was detected in the act of leaving the factory with a piece of iron in his possession, which he had removed from a slide used to direct the course of the water. In consideration of his being very young, and having a bad example in his mother, the complainant kindly withdrew the charge, and consented to re-employ him’ (Bristol Mercury). |
