The son of William Thomas of Bristol, yeoman (A).

1754 30 Oct. He was apprenticed to Richard and Mary Frank with £10, the gift of the Society of Ancient Britons in Bristol (A, Ao).
1761 12 Aug. ‘Release:- Philip Brooks, joyner of St Philip and Jacob. Quit claim to James Kitchen, scrivener, William Thomas, jnr., potter, John Roe, shipwright, and Joseph Riley, potter, all of Bristol’ (BRO Wooden Box 1760 Bundle 3 No.27c).
