Born c1810 (Ao).

1825 24 Oct. He was apprenticed to J.D. Pountney, aged 15 years (Ao).
1836-43 Bedminster (PPR, RPR).
1841 Bishop Street, Bedminster (P).
1841 No occupation, 7 Clarence Place, Bedminster (30), living with his wife Mary ann (28), born in county, and children (41C).
1845 21 Sep. Clarence Place, Bedminster (JBPR).
1849 13 Aug. A potter of Clarence Place, Bedminster, on the death of his wife Mary Ann, aged 37 years, from cholera (Death Certificate – information from Ken Blackmore).
1850 1 Mar. Noted as a potter when his son William was apprenticed to John Lucas, a confectioner (Ao).
1851 16 Feb. A potter and widower, the son of Felix Stephens, a sawyer, he married Eliza Blackmore, a dressmaker, the daughter of John Blackmore, a farmer, at St Michael’s church.  They were both living in Tankard’s Close (Marriage Certificate – information from Ken Blackmore).
1851 Earthenware printer, 17 Little Paradise, Bedminster (40), living with his wife Eliza (45), born in Wiveliscombe, Somerset, and children William (15), Mary Ann (15), Sarah (9) and Henry (5), all born in Bedminster (51C).
1852 Pottery printer, Zion Terrace, Bedminster (P).
1861 2 Apr. Noted as a potter when his son William (25) a confectioner of Little Paradise married Sarah Ann Cook George (JBPR).
1861 Journeyman potter, 17 Little Paradise, Bedminster (50), living with his wife Eliza (35), born in Wiveliscombe, Somerset and daughter Matilda (17) born in Bedminster (61C).
1866 23 Dec. Noted as a potter when his son William (30) a widower and confectioner married Harriet Wolferston (JBPR).
1869 4 Mar. Possibly the William Stephens who was recorded as working at the Bristol Pottery (Bristol Times and Mirror).
1871 2 Waters Lane, Temple parish (60), living with his wife Eliza (44) and daughter Matilda (17), a book seller (71C).
1881 Late foreman earthenware manufactory, 1 Victoria Terrace [next door to the Albert Pottery], St Philip’s parish (70), living with his wife Eliza (54), born in Wiveliscombe, and daughter Matilda Elizabeth (27), born in Bristol (81C).
1891 Potter’s printer, Myrtle Villa, Allington Road, Bedminster (80), living with his wife Eliza (64) (91C).
1897 A potter’s printer of 63 Allington Road when he died, aged 86 years, of hemiplegia asthenia [paralysis caused by stroke or tumour] (Death Certificate – information from Ken Blackmore).
1915 27 Mar. Noted as a foreman in pottery on the death of his wife Eliza, aged 88 years, of bronchial pneumonia (Death Certificate – information from Ken Blackmore).
