SMITH Charles Baynton

Born c1822 (Ao) or 1823 in Temple parish, the son of Hester Smith, a potter (51C).

1836 1 Jun. He was apprenticed to J.D. Pountney, aged 14 years (Ao).
1841 Potter’s apprentice, Crown Court, Temple parish, living with his parents Robert and Hester Smith (41C).
1845 23 Nov. 7 Pipe Lane, Temple parish, the son of Robert Smith, a coachman, he married Sarah Porter (20) of 7 Pipe Lane, the daughter of James Porter, a cordwainer (TPR).
1846-52 Temple parish (TPR).
1851 Potter (handler), 7 Avon Street, Temple parish (28), living with his wife Sarah (25) born in St Mary Redcliffe parish and children Henry William (3) and Sarah Ann (9 mths) and his mother Hester (50), supported by son, born in St Augustine’s parish (51C).
1852 19 Jun. ‘Charles Smith, potter, late apprentice of John Decimus Pountney, potter, a free burgess and indenture dated 1 June 1836 produced and certified by master’ (FM).
1852 Avon Street, Temple parish (P).
1854 12 Feb. Dings, St Philip’s parish (PPR).
