MARKS Joel

Born in Bristol, the brother of William Marks (41C).

1824 16 May. He was baptised in St Philip’s church, the son of Joel and Hester Marks (information from Jackie James).
1841 Labourer, Church Street, Temple parish (25) [his age may be a mistake for 15], living with his widowed mother Esther Allen [presumably she had remarried], a tobacconist, and siblings (41C).
1845 4 Aug. Potter, Frogmore Street, St Augustine’s parish, the son of Joel Marks, a smith, he married Fanny Davies of Stony Hill, the daughter of John Davies, a printer (APR).
1858 Probably his wife Fanny who was buried at St Andrew’s church, Clifton, aged 37 years (information from Jackie James).
1859 28 Aug. Potter and widower, he married Harriet Collings, the daughter of George Collings, potter (information from Jackie James).
1860 16 May. He died at 1 Temple Backs, Temple parish, aged 36 of ‘phthisis’ (a wasting disease, especially pulmonary tuberculosis) (information from Jackie James).
