LINFORD Joseph

The son of Edward Linford of Bristol, engraver, and the brother of Edward Linford (A).

1727 27 Aug. Probably the Joseph Linford baptised, the son of Edward Linford (St Mary Redcliffe; Ancestry website).
1741 13 Oct. He was apprenticed to Thomas I and Sarah Taylor.  Friends to find apparel (A, Ao, Ar).
1750 9 Dec. He married Elizabeth Kitchinman in St Mary, Lambeth, Surrey (information from Gay Brennan).
c1752-59 He was living in Lambeth when his children were baptised: Mary, bapt 5 Nov 1752, Elizabeth, bapt 2 Jun 1754, Ann, bapt 5 Dec 1756 and Joseph, bapt 12 Mar 1758 (St Mary’s, Lambeth; information from Gay Brennan).
1757 23 Jul. He became a free gallypotmaker (F, G).
c1761-64 He was living in Mortlake, Surrey, when his children were baptised: Jane, bapt 2 Sep 1758, Samuel, bapt 3 May 1761, Martha, bapt 10 Oct 1762 and Edward, bapt 29 Jan 1764 (St Mary’s, Mortlake; information from Gay Brennan).
1772 12 Sep. He had moved back to Lambeth by 1772 when his daughter Elizabeth was baptised (St Mary’s, Lambeth; information from Gay Brennan).
1774 Gallypotmaker, Lambeth (P).
1780-93 He was living in Vauxhall, Lambeth, occupying property owned by Sir Joseph Mawby, with a yearly value of £10 (Land Tax, Surrey, for 1780, 1781, 1785, 1787, 1789, 1792 and 1793, information from Gay Brennan).

1784 Gallypotmaker, Vauxhall Stairs, Lambeth (P).
1793 17 Nov. Living in Vauxhall, he was buried at St Mary’s church, Lambeth (London Metropolitan Archives, P85/MRY1, item 348; information from Gay Brennan).
