HOWELL Joseph I

Born c1795, the son of John Howell of Bristol, glazier.  He was the father of Henry Joseph, John Howell II and William Howell II (51C).

1808 1 Nov. He was apprenticed to Charles and Elizabeth Price with 40s from Alderman Kitchen’s Charity (A, Ao).

1835 & 37 St Philip’s Marsh (P).
1837 & 40 Marsh, St Philip’s parish (PPR).
1841 Avon Cottage, St Philip’s Marsh (P).
1841 Journeyman potter, Avon Cottage, St Philip’s Marsh, St Philip’s parish (47), living with his wife Mary (32) born in Bristol and children (41C).
1851 Journeyman stone potter, 5 Lewis’s Buildings, Temple parish (56), living with his wife Mary (42) and children (51C).
1852 Lewis’s Buildings, Temple parish (P).
1855 12 Aug. Lewis’s Buildings, Temple parish (PPR).
1855 2 Sep. Noted as a potter when his son William (20) of Brown’s Row, Bedminster, married Elizabeth Thomas (JBPR).
1861 His wife was a widow and she was living with her step-son John Howell II (61C).
1867 20 Oct. Noted as a potter when his daughter Mary (24) of Anchor Lane, St Augustine’s parish married Samuel Alden Austin (APR).
1872 7 Jul. Noted as a potter when his son Henry Joseph Howell (22) of Unity Street, St Philip’s parish married Mary Ann Appleford (PPR).
