The son of Edward Bye of Brislington, gallypotmaker (A) and the father of Philip Bye (T).

1681 11 Oct. John, son of Edward and Grace, born (BrisPR).
1698 14 May. John Bye, son of Edward Bye of Brissleton, alias Bussleton, Somerset, gallypotmaker, apprenticed to Marie Orchard, widow of John Orchard, deceased, to learn from Marie and co-partners the art of gallypotmaking for 7 years (A, Ar).
1704 6 Jul. He was left one shilling in his father’s will (BRO Will).
1705 1 Oct. He became a free gallypotmaker (F, G).
1722 6 Oct. John Buy, son of John Buy of Bristol potter, deceased apprenticed to John Allen, glazier … (A, Ar).
1732 20 May. He was described as a Bristol potter, deceased, when his son, Philip was discharged from his apprenticeship to Henry Rudge, clothworker (T).
1732 20 May. Described as a Bristol potter, deceased, when his son Philip was apprenticed to John Weaver (A, Ao, Ar).
