Born c1826 in Temple parish (91C).

1843 14 May. Broad Quay, St Stephen’s parish (19), the son of Robert Brookes, cordwainer, he married Mary Wood (SPR).
1849 23 Dec. Broad Quay, widower, he married Sarah Legg (SPR).
1851 Placer in stoneware pottery, 17 Tabernacle Row, St Paul’s parish (25), living with his wife Sarah (29), born in Bristol, and daughter Ellen (5 mths) (51C).
1861 Fireman (pottery), 130 Temple Street, Temple parish (35), living with his wife Sarah (38), and children (61C).
1868 20 Jun. He was described as foreman of Price’s Pottery in Temple Street/Thomas Street (Bristol Mercury).
1871 Fireman stoneware pottery, 6 Church Lane, Temple parish (45), living with his wife Sarah (49) and children (71C).
1881 Pottery fireman, 45 Thomas Street, St Thomas parish (55), living with his wife Sarah (59), children and his mother-in-law, Ann Legg (83) (81C).
1891 Foreman fireman in stone ware pottery, widower, 34 Green Bank Road, St George (65), living with Sarah Savage (53), housekeeper (91C).
1901 Fireman stoneware pottery, Whiteway Road, St George (75), living with his wife Sarah (63), born in St Augustine’s parish (01C).
1909 24 Mar. ‘Died at Hanham, aged 83, Robert Brookes, for 67 years a valued and faithful employee at Price, Sons and Company’s Potteries, St Thomas Street’ (Western Daily Press).
