The son of Henry Bone of Plymouth, Devon, cabinetmaker (A).

| In 1801 he appears to have been elected an Associate of the Royal Academy and he was appointed painter in enamel to King George III. In 1811 he was made a full member of the Academy and he died in 1834 (Pountney 1920, 224). |
